Accelerating Pharmaceutical Processing Through Artificial Intelligence

Mike Riley, Veranova’s CEO, hosted a keynote session at Fierce JPM Week 2025 alongside David Shrier, CEO of Phorum.AI. They discussed the important role that artificial intelligence can play in shortening drug development timelines, scaling increasingly complex processes, reducing costs, and driving sustainability.

As noted by Mr. Riley, “We’re very excited to be able to share with you some of the ways that we’re working together to apply artificial intelligence to pharmaceutical processing. As the pharmaceutical pipeline gets more complex, we’re finding that sometimes we are the critical path to be able to get a product to the clinic and to patients.

“What if we could use AI to find new processing efficiencies for certain products that might not have been found otherwise? And even, maybe most interestingly, how can we potentially allow our scientists to kind of break that trade-off between going fast into the clinic and developing more optimal process earlier in development?

“If we can provide our scientists with AI tools to be able to find better processes earlier in development, it can have a very significant impact in addressing a lot of the issues that we talked about.”
