Cristina explains the work carried out by Veranova’s Solid Form & Particle Engineering team on Edaravone, a free radical scavenger used to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and stroke. Edaravone has low aqueous solubility and limited bioavailability, which hamper its intestinal absorption and requires the use of high-dose parenteral administration. Veravova was able to develop a new crystalline salt of Edaravone Edisylate with improved solid state properties than the currently marketed free form.
